Desktop and Network Support Technician

Description

This position assists staff with technical support and use of desktop and laptop computers, applications, and related technology. Support includes installation, preventive maintenance, repairs, and testing of computer systems and peripherals within established standards and guidelines. Ongoing support includes the diagnosis and resolution of day-to-day problems faced by end users. Use includes developing and disseminating knowledge of custom and packaged software applications and operating systems to users.

This position also assists in the maintenance and testing of network and telephone infrastructure. Work is performed with little supervision and requires initiative, troubleshooting skills, and good judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the installation, configuration, and ongoing usability of computers, peripherals, and software for local and remote users.

  • Develops & implements documentation to orient staff on the use of hardware and software.

  • Works with vendor support representatives and other IS staff, as appropriate, to determine and resolve technical problems.

  • Performs upgrades and preventive maintenance on systems to ensure longevity.

Other Requirements

  • Other skills required include knowledge of Windows Operating Systems (10-11), MS Office Applications, and basic networking skills.

  • Qualified candidates must have experience in computer support, with strong technical and interpersonal skills. 

  • The candidate must be able to multi-task and have the willingness and ambition to learn and take on a variety of responsibilities.

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds on occasion also is required.
